DGT Resolution BOE-A-2026-1255 restricts vehicles over 7,500 kg GVW only on specific listed road sections and dates (Anexo II) — there is no rule closing "all roads" on a given Saturday or Sunday. Recurring corridors include: the N-230 near the France border (Fri 17:00–24:00 towards France / Sun 13:00–20:00 away, Jan–Mar & Dec), Andalusia's Huelva/Cádiz beach roads (Sat 10:00–14:00, Jun–Aug), the Huelva coast + Cantabria's A-8 (Sat/Sun/holidays 11:00–22:00, Jul–Aug), and a cluster of Madrid-entry roads on summer Sunday evenings (28 Jun–6 Sep). Fines for violations
- Breaching a ban is a serious traffic offence (infracción grave): €200 fine + up to 4 licence points deducted
- Early payment within 20 days of notification reduces the fine to €100 but waives the right to appeal
- Using a non-RIMP route for ADR transit is equally a serious offence: €200 + 4 points
- In the most serious cases (driving a section with a total ban) fines can reach €2,000 with vehicle immobilisation
- Combined with other violations (e.g. alcohol) total sanctions can reach €6,000
FAQ
Can trucks drive in Spain on Sundays?
Mostly yes. Spain has no nationwide Sunday truck ban — unlike Germany, Austria or France. Restrictions apply only to specific listed road sections and dates (DGT Anexo II), e.g. the N-230 near the France border (Jan–Mar/Dec), Andalusia's Huelva coast (Jul–Aug), and Madrid-entry roads on summer Sunday evenings (28 Jun–6 Sep). Outside those corridors and dates, Sunday driving is unrestricted.
Is there a Saturday truck ban in Spain?
