How the two summer regimes differ

The main state road ban and the A2 Skopje - Ohrid ban are separate measures with different weight limits, different hours and different end dates. A truck of 10 t GVW runs freely on the main state roads during the weekend hours but is stopped on the A2 between Skopje and Ohrid. A truck over 15 t is covered by both, and on a Sunday in July it is off the network from 07:00 on the A2 and from 09:00 everywhere else.

Planning a transit through the country

The A2 corridor carries the Skopje to Ohrid holiday traffic the restrictions are written for, which is why it starts earlier on Friday, ends later in the season and reaches down to 7.5 t. Transits that only need the north-south corridor towards Greece or Serbia are governed by the 15 t main-road rule and have a wider Saturday window, since that ban lifts at 18:00.
