Overview
On the Ukrainian-Moldovan section of the border (Vinnytsia region), the establishment of the new international border crossing point "Bronnytsia — Unguri" is nearing completion. The facility is scheduled to be put into operation by the end of 2026. The main goal of expanding the infrastructure is to redistribute traffic and relieve congestion at the neighboring strategic BCP "Mohyliv-Podilskyi — Otaci".
Capacity and Infrastructure
- Focus: The new border crossing is designed to handle passenger vehicles. This will redirect private passenger traffic to "Bronnytsia", leaving the main transit corridor in Mohyliv-Podilskyi for freight transport.
- Traffic and Flow: Expected traffic is up to 600 passenger cars per day, with a passenger flow of up to 800 people daily.
- Readiness Status: Service modular premises and pavilions for the personnel of the State Customs and Border Guard Services have already been installed on the territory of the crossing point. Contractors are currently carrying out final landscaping and arrangement works.
Security Solutions: Inclusive Shelter
Given the martial law conditions, the project of the "Bronnytsia — Unguri" crossing point includes the construction of a modern underground shelter designed for the simultaneous stay of 50 people. The shelter is fully adapted for mobility-impaired groups of the population — the facility is equipped with a special mechanical lift to ensure quick access for travelers during air raids.
Comprehensive Development of Border Logistics
During a working trip, the government delegation outlined additional steps to improve transport links with Moldova:
- Modernization of BCP "Mohyliv-Podilskyi — Otaci": Planning has begun for the further reconstruction of the existing crossing point to optimize logistics processes.
- Upgrade of Access Roads: As part of maintenance operations, repair works are underway on the T-02-02 highway, which runs directly along the state border and provides transport connection between the crossing points.
