Danube ferries closed, Bulgarian borders flowing freely

BurgasMedia

Bulgaria's General Directorate "Border Police" reports normal traffic at every road checkpoint with North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey as of 14 August 2026. No delays have been registered for cars, buses or freight vehicles.

Romania: Danube Bridge at full capacity

Traffic towards Romania is moving normally as well. The Danube Bridge between Ruse and Giurgiu is open in both lanes, so no lane-sharing restrictions are slowing the crossing.

Two Danube ferries suspended

Low water levels on the Danube have forced the temporary closure of the Oryahovo - Bechet and Svishtov - Zimnicea ferry complexes. Drivers who planned to use either link must reroute, in practice to the Ruse - Giurgiu bridge, and should budget extra distance and fuel.
