User Reviews — 4.0/5 (15 reviews)
Recurring practical issues are document checks and the Ukrainian border IT system. Moldovan guards now routinely demand a Green Card and vignette, and a roadworthiness certificate has been requested; the Ukrainian system reportedly froze for an hour on one day and four hours the day before. Ukrainian customs also runs thorough baggage searches, with passengers pulled off buses and minibuses.
Tips from reviewers: buy the vignette online and print it, since terminals within 200 km may be down or cash-only; approach roads are good apart from the Berdychiv bypass; after the border, locals recommend the Soroca route (30 km of poor surface, then excellent highway) or Edinet-Balti-Sangerei-Orhei-Chisinau. Kyivstar coverage works at the crossing, and there is a toilet at a nearby church before the gates.
