Bulgaria's General Directorate "Border Police" reports normal traffic flow at all of the country's border checkpoints. Two Danube ferry links, however, have been taken out of service because of unusually low water levels on the river.
Danube Bridge fully reopened:
Repair works on the Danube Bridge between Ruse (Bulgaria) and Giurgiu (Romania) have been completed. Since 30 June 2026 the crossing has been operating without restrictions in both directions and again handles all vehicle categories.
Ferry services suspended:
🇧🇬 Bulgaria — 🇷🇴 Romania:
- Oryahovo — Bechet: suspended from 10 July due to the low level of the Danube
- Svishtov — Zimnicea: suspended from 21 July for the same reason
Drivers who normally rely on these ferries should reroute via the Ruse–Giurgiu bridge or the Vidin–Calafat bridge. Both detours add distance, so allow extra travel time and check queue levels before departure.
Greek border: vehicle weight limits
🇬🇷 Greece:
- Rudozem, Zlatograd, Makaza and Ivaylovgrad: cars and minibuses up to 3.5 tonnes only
- Kulata, Ilinden and Kapitan Petko Voyvoda: all vehicle types, including heavy goods vehicles
Serbia, North Macedonia and Turkey:
Traffic is reported as normal in both directions, with no significant build-ups at these crossings.
