Vehicle Technical Requirements
Before crossing the border, check that EVERYTHING works:
- Low beam headlights work (must be on constantly in EU)
- High beam works
- Brake lights illuminate
- Reverse lights work
- Parking lights work
- Brakes respond instantly
- Turn signals work (left and right)
- Horn works
- Steering wheel turns easily
- Windshield wipers work
- All three mirrors in place
- No cracks longer than 30 cm
- Tread minimum 1.6 mm
- November-March: ONLY winter tires (mandatory in Poland)
- No bulges or damage
- Reflective vests for EVERY passenger
- First aid kit
- Fire extinguisher (minimum 1 kg)
- 2 warning triangles OR emergency beacons

How to get there
To find the route from the capital of Romania (Bucharest) to Isaccea Border Crossing, you have several transportation options:
- By car:
The quickest way to reach Isaccea from Bucharest is by car, which takes approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes. The route is about 280-300 km long, primarily using national roads. - By bus:
There are bus services available from Bucharest to Isaccea. This option might take longer than driving but can be more economical. - By train and bus combination:
You can take a train from Bucharest to a nearby city like Tulcea or Brăila, and then complete the journey to Isaccea by bus. This option may take longer but could be a good choice if you prefer rail travel for part of the journey. - By night bus:
There's also a night bus option available, which could be convenient if you prefer overnight trave.
The most direct route by road typically follows this path:
- Take the A2 motorway east from Bucharest towards Constanta
- Near Fetești, take the exit onto DN2A towards Giurgeni
- Cross the Danube at Giurgeni-Vadu Oii Bridge
- Continue on DN22 through Măcin
- Follow DN22 to Isaccea
