The Latvian State Border Guard has confirmed that the electronic queue at the Paternieki border crossing point is working again. The notice was published on 4 August 2026 at 18:34, ending a temporary interruption in queue management.
What changes for drivers:
Movement towards the border barrier is once again controlled by invitation only. Drivers should not approach the barrier on their own initiative and must wait until their number is called.

- Prepare documents in advance: passports, vehicle registration, insurance
- Allow extra time — traffic that built up during the outage does not disperse instantly
- Where possible, shift your crossing away from evening peak hours
