Current Status: The international road border crossing Röszke — Horgoš is the main checkpoint on the Hungary-Serbia border. Open 24/7 and located on the European route E75 (Belgrade–Budapest). New Changes at the Border: EES (2025) and ETIAS (2026)
- EES (Entry/Exit System): Starting October 2025, automatic biometric registration of entry/exit for third-country nationals when entering the EU (Hungary). Fingerprint and facial scans required at first crossing. Procedure takes 2-3 minutes per person.
- ETIAS: From late 2026, Ukrainian citizens will need to obtain ETIAS electronic authorization for EU/Schengen entry. Cost €7, valid for 3 years, online registration on official website.
