Starting October 15, 2025, Latvia will require all motorized vehicles to register in advance through an Electronic Queue Reservation System (ERRS) before crossing the eastern border with Russia and Belarus. This measure aims to improve border security and eliminate physical queues at crossing points.
How the system works:
Travelers must register their vehicles online at www.lvborder.lv or www.lvrobeza.lv up to 30 days before their planned crossing. The system allows drivers to select a specific one-hour time slot for arrival at the border checkpoint. A queue number is assigned after payment confirmation.
The registration fee is €9.30 per vehicle. Both Latvian residents and foreign citizens can register and pay electronically through the official websites.
Key dates and requirements:
- October 1, 2025: Registration opens for crossings from October 15 onwards
- October 15, 2025: Mandatory registration takes effect
- No walk-up queues: Physical queuing will no longer be possible
🇱🇻 Affected border crossings:
- Grebneva (Latvia-Russia border)
- Terehova (Latvia-Russia border)
- Paternieki (Latvia-Belarus border)
With this implementation, all three Baltic states now operate electronic queue systems on their eastern borders. Customer support is available on weekdays from 8:00 to 17:00.
