Questions and answers

Which side of the bus is in the shade?

It depends on the direction of travel and the time of day. Heading west in the afternoon, the sun is ahead and on the left; heading north in the morning, it is on the right. Open your route to see the answer for your date.

How is it calculated?

We take the real road geometry of the licensed route and its timetable, compute the position of the sun (direction and height) every few minutes along the trip and add up how long each side of the coach is in direct sun.

Is it better to sit at the front or at the back?

When the sun is ahead, the front rows get more light through the large windscreen; the side zones differ less. The seat map shows the sun share of the front, middle and back on each side.

Does the side matter on a night trip?

If most of the trip is in darkness, the side hardly matters — the page says so and shows the dark part of the trip on the timeline.
