Queues and Wait Times
As this is the main gateway between the EU and Serbia, waits vary sharply by time of day. Overnight (22:00–06:00) delays are usually 10–30 minutes, weekday daytime 1–2 hours, and weekends, public holidays and the July–August travel season can bring 3–5 hours. Trucks often face the longest waits because of stricter customs checks.
See live monitoring at Bajakovo → Batrovci and the full historical statistics. Live HAK cameras for the crossing are available on the checkpoint page.
Documents and Practical Notes
Croatia is in the Schengen area (since 2023) and the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) applies to third-country nationals from November 2025; Serbia is outside Schengen, so full customs and document control takes place on exit from the EU. Trucks need CMR and customs paperwork and benefit from advance e-registration. Currency exchange is generally cheaper in town than at the border.
