Large-capacity buses are once again allowed to cross the Diakivtsi–Racovat checkpoint in the Chernivtsi region on the Ukraine–Romania border. Ukraine and Romania agreed to resume passage for these buses regardless of vehicle size or height. The arrangement runs until the end of summer, during the peak passenger season.

What has changed:

Previously, large buses faced restrictions at Diakivtsi because of infrastructure constraints on the Romanian side. Following talks between Ukraine's Ministry of Development and Romania's Ministry of Transport, that limit has been temporarily lifted.

🇺🇦 Ukraine:
  • To exit, a bus must be registered in the eCherha system.
  • The checkpoint operates around the clock.
🇷🇴 Romania:
  • Buses of any size and height are accepted until the end of summer.

Routing some buses through Diakivtsi eases pressure on neighbouring crossings and speeds up travel during the busy summer months. Both sides continue working to make these crossings permanent.

Similar agreements apply on other routes — for example, summer bus services through Shehyni–Medyka.

For reference: the Diakivtsi checkpoint opened in February 2023. It is open to pedestrians, passenger transport and trucks up to 7.5 tonnes.
