Yes! EES is active on the Hungarian side since October 12, 2025!

This is the first real EES implementation on an external Schengen border.

How it works:

  • ✅ Hungarian police (NOT Serbian) collects data
  • ✅ Collection on HUNGARIAN side (after exiting Serbia)
  • ✅ Mandatory for third-country nationals (non-EU/EEA)

What is collected:

  • Biometric passport scan
  • Fingerprints (10 fingers)
  • Facial photo
  • Entry/exit timestamp

Impact on time:

  • First entry: +5–15 minutes
  • Subsequent entries: minimal impact

Main crossings with EES:

  • Horgos–Bácsalmás (A3): 3–10 min + EES
  • Nagykaniža–Tompojevci: 3–8 min + EES
