The Hungary–Romania border is fully internal Schengen as of 1 January 2025. Main crossings: Nădlac–Csanádpalota (A1/M43 motorway), Borș II–Ártánd (A3/M4) and Petea–Csengersima. Permanent controls are gone; only occasional spot checks remain on motorways. Pre-Schengen queue patterns (Friday afternoons westbound, Sunday eastbound) have eased significantly.
