Overview
We measured 4,741 departures at 11 airports between 16 and 23 September 2026. 76% left on time, which means no more than 15 minutes late. Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) had the worst average departure delay, at 15.5 min. The longest single delay of the week was 5 h 11 min, on a FlyOne flight from Chişinău International Airport (KIV). These figures come from nakordoni.eu's own polling of the departure boards. They cover only the 11 monitored airports in Poland, Bulgaria and Moldova, and only the last 7 days. Airport ranking: where departures ran latest
Warsaw Chopin is the outlier. Its average delay of 15.5 min is almost six times the 2.7 min recorded at Katowice International Airport (KTW), the most punctual airport this week.

The busiest airports ran latest
The three airports with the most measured departures also hold the top three places. Warsaw Chopin, Sofia and Kraków International Airport together account for more than half of the week's sample. The smaller Polish airports sit at the bottom of the table. In two cities, a nearby second airport performed much better. Warsaw Chopin departures averaged 15.5 min late, compared with 4.8 min at Modlin. From Kraków the average was 11 min, while Katowice recorded 2.7 min. A low average does not rule out a long delay. Chişinău, in sixth place, had the week's single worst departure, and 6.8% of its flights left more than an hour late, the highest share of any airport. Travellers who reach Rzeszów, often listed by its code as EPRZ airport, or Chişinău after a land border crossing can check the live border queues before they leave.

All five departed from only two airports. Three left from Sofia and two from Chişinău. Both Chişinău flights were bound for Tel Aviv. Flight number 3438 appears twice from Sofia, on consecutive days, under Buzz and Ryanair codes. These are individual flights and say nothing general about the carriers involved.

Ryanair had the highest average delay, at 18.1 min, and 40 departures more than an hour late. Buzz had a better on-time share of 79%, but it recorded the most departures over 60 min late, at 48. LOT Polish Airlines, the largest carrier in the sample, left on time on 67% of 1,012 departures. Enter Air departed on average ahead of schedule. These figures describe airline punctuality on departures from the 11 monitored airports only, not across each carrier's whole network.
An airline is listed only if we measured at least 50 of its departures this week. Carriers with fewer flights are not ranked, because a small sample gives no reliable figure. Our records show how late a flight left. They do not show why.
How the week trended
Friday 18.09 was the weakest day, with an average delay of 19.6 min and 62% on time, although we measured only 231 departures that day. Sunday 20.09 and Monday 21.09 were the strongest full days, both at 78% on time. From Saturday onward, averages stayed between 8.8 and 11.6 min. Wednesday 16.09 and Wednesday 23.09 are partial days at the edges of the window, so their totals are not comparable.

What to do with these numbers
- The weekly window is now closed. Check flight delays today on the live departure board before you leave for the airport.
- A late departure does not always mean a missed connection, because some delay can be recovered in the air. A short transfer is the real risk, so allow extra time when you fly from Warsaw Chopin, Sofia or Kraków.
- When two airports serve one area, as with Warsaw Chopin and Modlin or Kraków and Katowice, this week's punctuality gap is a reasonable tiebreaker.
- If your trip starts with a land border crossing, check the current wait time first. It is the part of the journey you can plan.
