International passenger carriers holding permits for regular routes through the Shehyni – Medyka crossing can now use the same permits at the Nyzhankovychi – Malhowice and Smilnytsia – Krościenko crossings. The arrangement was agreed by Ukraine's Ministry for Communities together with Poland's Ministry of Infrastructure and Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Why the change was made:

On 15 June 2026 the Polish side began repair works at the Shehyni crossing that may slow down bus traffic. To keep scheduled services running, both countries agreed to honour the same permits at neighbouring crossings.

🇺🇦 What it means for carriers:
  • More flexibility in choosing a crossing point
  • A more even distribution of traffic flows
  • The ability to book e-queue slots at the new crossings
  • Shorter waiting times at the border

Thanks to updates in the relevant registries, carriers can already reserve e-queue slots for Nyzhankovychi and Smilnytsia. For more on the affected routes, see our report on bus permits for Shehyni.

The ministry urges carriers to factor in these changes when planning routes and to use alternative crossings to balance the load at the border.
