Overview: 17 full closures and major roadworks hit 12 German motorways
Week 35 brings heavy disruption across the German Autobahn network. According to the latest snapshot from Die Autobahn GmbH des Bundes, 17 full closures (Vollsperrung) and a large number of long-term roadworks are currently active on 12 motorways. For HGV and TIR drivers routing through Germany, this means detours, narrow lanes, and tight delivery windows. Conditions on the network change continuously, so this digest is a live snapshot only. Before you start any trip, always verify the current situation on the live traffic and closures map and re-check it during your journey.
The closures listed below affect all vehicles, but the impact on trucks is often greater: narrow contraflow lanes, width restrictions, and truck overtaking bans (LKW-Überholverbot) are common at German roadworks. Combined with the country's strict weekend and holiday truck driving bans (LKW-Fahrverbote), drivers must plan carefully. Full closures (Vollsperrung)
A1 — Hamburg / Lübeck corridor
A1 full closure between Bargteheide and Bad Oldesloe, direction Hamburg → Lübeck, from 25.08.2026 19:00 to 26.08.2026 06:00. A second full closure runs from Buddikate (rest area) to Bargteheide (AS) for carriageway repair, same overnight window. Both blocks force traffic off the A1 onto the B75 through Stormarn. Expect heavy night-time congestion and limited space for HGVs in the towns along the diversion.
A3 — Lower Rhine and Bavaria
A3 full closure between Emmerich and Emmerich-Ost, direction Arnhem → Oberhausen, from 04.09.2026 20:00 to 05.09.2026 24:00. A second full closure runs Elten → Hohe Heide in the same direction and window. This is a critical cross-border corridor from the Netherlands; trucks should consider the A12/A61 detour via Venlo or delay transit.
Further south, A3 full closures are scheduled between Manzing and Deggendorf in both directions (Passau ↔ Nürnberg) starting 05.09.2026 20:00, including the bridge new-build at Budberger Straße and the bridge works at AK Deggendorf. Diversion runs via the B8 and B11 through the Danube valley — a route that is not suitable for heavy trucks during peak hours.
A5 — Rhine-Neckar
A5 full closure Hemsbach → Wachenburg, direction Darmstadt → Heidelberg, 01.09.2026 22:00 to 02.09.2026 05:00. A second daytime full closure runs Weinheim → Wachenburg on 26.08.2026 09:00–16:00. Diversion uses the B38 through Weinheim; trucks should expect tight urban sections and height restrictions.
A6 — Mannheim
A6 full closure of AS Mannheim-Schwetzingen and AK Mannheim for overhead catenary works, 31.08.2026 22:00 to 23:00. Short but disruptive: HGVs should avoid the interchange during this one-hour window.
A10 / A13 — Berlin ring and southern approach
Three full closures on the A10 Berlin ring on 25.08.2026 08:00–18:00: Lankensee → Schönefelder Kreuz, Am Fichtenplan-Nord → Schönefelder Kreuz, and the Königs Wusterhausen exit for B179 resurfacing. The A13 is also fully closed in both directions between Bestensee, Mittenwalde, Schönefelder Kreuz and Am Kahlberg-Ost during the same window. Diversion runs via the B179 and B246 — drivers should plan extra time for the Berlin bypass.
A8 / A81 — Leonberg interchange
Full closure of the A8/A81 ramp Karlsruhe → Würzburg at AD Leonberg for bridge refurbishment, 28.08.2026 20:00 to 29.08.2026 24:00. Use the A8/A81 main carriageway via the parallel ramps or divert via the B295 through Leonberg.

A1
AS Köln-Niehl exit closed 06.09.2026 07:00–17:00. Long-term single-lane running between Tecklenburger Land and Lengerich, direction Osnabrück → Münster, since 23.09.2024 — expect permanent congestion.
A2
Multiple long-term restrictions: exit ramps to the A43 at AK Recklinghausen (since 12.04.2021), AS Beckum entry from Vellern (since 10.08.2026), single-lane running Resser Mark → Herten (since 13.02.2026), overnight single-lane Lauenau → Bad Nenndorf on 30.08.2026 22:00–05:00, and the long-running AS Lauenau closure (since 13.04.2026). The A2 Ruhr region remains one of the most disrupted corridors in Germany.
A3
AS Neutraubling exit closed for signage works from 25.08.2026 21:00. Long-term single-lane running Emmerich-Ost → Löwenberger Landwehr since 28.07.2026.
A4
Long-term single-lane sections Bielstein ↔ Hömeler Feld since 19.11.2024, and Dresden-Neustadt ↔ Dresden-Wilder Mann in both directions since 26.05.2026, including the Großenhainer Straße closure at AS Dresden-Wilder Mann.
A5
AS Riegel junction closure 31.08.2026 22:00 to 01.09.2026 06:00, and AS Appenweier junction closure 25.08.2026 22:00 to 26.08.2026 05:00.
A6
AS Waidhaus exit closed direction Nürnberg since 20.10.2023 — a long-standing restriction on the Czech border corridor.

Weekend closures between AS HH-Stellingen and AS HH-Heimfeld from 04.09.2026 22:00 for DEGES projects. AS Neumünster-Mitte exit closed since 17.08.2026. AS Owschlag exit closed 23.09.2026 22:00 to 24.09.2026 05:00.

Long-term single-lane running Einöd → Zweibrücken-Ernstweiler, direction Neunkirchen → Karlsruhe, since 11.05.2026.

AS München-Freimann exit closed 02.09.2026 19:00 to 03.09.2026 05:00, with single-lane running München-Fröttmaning Süd → München-Schwabing in the same window.
Plan your route through Germany
Four practical rules for week 35. First, always check the live traffic map before departure and again at every rest stop — closures are added or shortened with little notice. Second, respect the German weekend and holiday HGV driving bans (LKW-Fahrverbote); a closure that strands you on a Sunday afternoon can mean a forced 48-hour stop. Third, use the truck parking map to secure a legal spot before you reach a closure zone — many German rest areas fill up by late afternoon.
