Overview

Thirteen full closures and numerous long‑term roadworks are currently active on ten German motorways. For HGV/TIR drivers this means possible delays, lane reductions and the need to plan alternative routes. The situation changes continuously, so always check the live traffic & closures map before you depart.

In addition, be aware of the European truck driving ban tomorrow and the today's truck driving ban that may affect weekend or holiday movements. When you need fuel, the HGV diesel station locator can help you find a suitable stop.

Plan your route through Germany

Before you start, open the live traffic map and verify that no new incidents have appeared. Check the weekend & holiday driving bans calendar, especially if you travel on a Saturday or Sunday, as many of the full closures are scheduled for weekend nights.

When a full closure forces you onto secondary roads, use the truck parkings map to find safe rest areas. Allow an additional 30‑45 minutes of buffer time for each major detour, and keep your tachograph records up to date using the EU tachograph calculator. Finally, calculate the German LKW‑Maut with the German LKW‑Maut calculator to avoid unexpected toll costs.
