Bulgaria’s Road Infrastructure Agency (API) has introduced temporary reversed traffic on the E-79 (I-1) between kilometers 375 and 376 near Blagoevgrad, on the Sofia–Kulata route. Two lanes now serve traffic toward Sofia, while only one lane serves the direction of the Kulata checkpoint.
Due to the lane narrowing, drivers should reduce speed, maintain a safe distance, and strictly obey temporary signs and road markings. The highest-risk point is the merge zone where two lanes converge into one. Overtaking is prohibited in this section.
API has not stated how long the temporary arrangement will remain in force, so drivers should check the Kulata queue statistics before departure; these indicate the hours when delays are most likely.
