Those planning to cross the border with Romania via Zakarpattia can expect temporary inconveniences. At the "Solotvyno — Sighetu Marmatiei" checkpoint, vehicle processing will be partially suspended next week due to ongoing reconstruction work on the bridge over the Tisa River.

When restrictions will be in effect

According to the State Border Guard Service in Zakarpattia, the Romanian side is introducing temporary restrictions on vehicle movement from June 8 to June 17, 2026. The work starts on Monday, June 8, and will continue throughout the week.

On weekdays, from 09:00 to 16:00, vehicle processing in this direction will be temporarily stopped. The reason is the continuation of the reconstruction of the bridge crossing over the Tisa, which connects the Ukrainian and Romanian parts of the checkpoint.

What drivers need to know
  • Restrictions apply only to road traffic during the specified hours.
  • Pedestrian movement will proceed without restrictions.
  • Outside the 09:00–16:00 interval on weekdays, and also taking into account the on-site situation, vehicles will be processed as usual.

Border guards advise taking these restrictions into account when planning trips and, if possible, choosing alternative checkpoints. The nearest option for residents of Zakarpattia is the "Dyakove" checkpoint, where you can check the current waiting time before departure.

We advise monitoring the current queue status on the checkpoint page before your trip, as even short technical breaks can lead to vehicle accumulation during peak hours.
