Ukraine's Ministry of Communities and Territories Development has announced a major expansion of the eCherha electronic queue system. For the first time, private car drivers will be able to book a border crossing slot online, while functionality for freight and bus operators is being upgraded.
What's new for private drivers:
The flagship change is online slot booking for passenger cars. The service will be integrated into the Diia app and remain available on the eCherha website and mobile app. It applies equally to Ukrainian citizens and foreign drivers crossing in their own vehicle.
Updates for commercial transport:
🚛 Trucks:
- Automatic verification of the Green Card insurance policy at booking — just enter the vehicle plate
- Option to specify T1 customs documents or TIR carnets, validated automatically
- Priority lanes for carriers with AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) status
🚌 Buses:
- Queue booking for transit routes through Ukraine
- Repeated registration of shuttle services under one permit number
- Vehicle substitution mechanism for irregular services
- One-time use of Interbus journal pages and permits
What this means in practice:
Over 3 million border crossings by trucks and buses have already been processed via eCherha. Extending the system to passenger cars should reduce physical waiting at checkpoints. You can track current load at specific crossings such as Chop (Tysa).
