Travelers who are going to cross the Ukrainian-Slovak border through the pedestrian checkpoint «Mali Selmentsi — Velke Slemence», should take into account temporary changes in the operation of the crossing at the end of June.

According to the Service for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure in the Transcarpathian region, from June 25 to June 27, 2026, installation work and temporary switching of engineering networks will be carried out at the international checkpoint «Mali Selmentsi — Velke Slemence». This is part of the measures to modernize the border and customs infrastructure.

What to expect during the work

During the execution of these works, a temporary slowdown of control and clearance procedures is not excluded. So, the waiting time for crossing on these days may increase.

The border agency advises to plan a trip in advance, monitor the congestion of the crossing and queues in front of it, and if necessary, choose other directions for crossing the border.

Alternative routes nearby

If the queue turns out to be significant, nearby on the Slovak direction, other crossings are working — in particular, the pedestrian checkpoint «Malyi Bereznyi», which can be useful for pedestrians and cyclists.
