After You Apply: What to Expect with Your ETIAS Application

You've submitted your ETIAS application, now what? This guide will walk you through what happens next, from getting your approval to understanding what to do if your application is denied.

Hooray, You're Approved!

If your ETIAS application is approved, you'll receive a confirmation email with your unique ETIAS application number. Keep this number safe for future reference.

Your ETIAS is electronically linked to your passport, so you don't need to print anything. However, we recommend saving a digital copy of your confirmation email on your phone, just in case.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Your ETIAS is valid for three years, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.
• You can travel to 30 European countries as many times as you want, as long as you don't stay for more than 90 days in any 180-day period.
• An ETIAS doesn't guarantee entry. The final decision is always made by the border guard. Be prepared to show proof of your travel plans, such as a return ticket and hotel reservations.

What if My Application is Rejected?

Don't panic if your ETIAS application is rejected. You'll receive an email explaining the reason for the rejection, and you have the right to appeal.

Common reasons for rejection include:

• Using a lost or stolen passport
• Posing a security or health risk
• Providing false information on your application
• Not responding to a request for additional information

If your application was rejected due to a simple mistake, you can correct it and re-apply.

The Appeal Process
