From September 1 to December 31, 2026, Germany will implement a temporary reduction of new road tolls for trucks by 22.3%. The measure is introduced to support transport operators affected by the sharp rise in fuel prices amidst the conflict in the Middle East. Thanks to the discount, carriers will pay approximately 80 million euros less in total by the end of the year.

☝ Important details

The new toll collection system for trucks (over 3.5 t) comes into force on July 1, 2026.

The 22.3% discount is valid from September 1, 2026 and will last until December 31, 2026. The reduction is uniform (the same percentage) for all vehicle categories — both diesel and zero-emission. The average cost of travel will decrease from approximately €0.191/km to €0.148/km.

Examples of tariffs (in euro cents/km)

✳ Euro-6 trucks (over 32 t):

  • July 1 – August 31, 2026: 20.1 cents/km
  • September 1 – December 31, 2026: 15.6 cents/km

✳ Euro-0 trucks (over 32 t):

  • July 1 – August 31, 2026: 48.7 cents/km
  • September 1 – December 31, 2026: 37.9 cents/km

✳ Zero-emission trucks (CO₂ class 5):

  • After discount: only 3 cents/km

Tariffs depend on weight, Euro standard, and CO₂ emission class. Older and more polluting trucks pay significantly more.
