## Overview

We measured 5,251 departures between 02.09 and 09.09.2026. Of those, 4,048 (77%) left within 15 minutes of the scheduled time, and 180 (3.4%) pushed back more than an hour late. **Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW)** recorded the worst average departure delay at 15.5 min, and the longest single delay of the week came from **Copernicus Wrocław Airport (WRO)** at **4 h 18 min**. All of it comes from nakordoni.eu's own polling of the [live departure boards](https://nakordoni.eu/sr/flights) at 11 airports, covers only the last seven days, and covers departure delay only. These figures describe those 11 airports alone. They are not network-wide airline statistics and not an industry ranking.

## Airport ranking: where departures ran latest

Warsaw Chopin Airport sits alone at the top. Its 15.5 min average is 6.5 min worse than Sofia Airport (SOF) in second place, while the remaining nine airports are packed between 9 min and 1.9 min. The busiest board in the sample, [WAW in Poland](https://nakordoni.eu/sr/flights/warsaw-chopin), produced 1,466 measured departures.

| # | Airport | Average delay | On time | Over 60 min late | Worst delay | Departures measured |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | **Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW)**, Warsaw [PL] | 15.5 min | 64% | 3.2% | 3 h 04 min | 1466 |
| 2 | **Sofia Airport (SOF)**, Sofia [BG] | 9 min | 77% | 2.4% | 2 h 39 min | 533 |
| 3 | **Copernicus Wrocław Airport (WRO)**, Wrocław [PL] | 8.7 min | 82% | 5% | 4 h 18 min | 400 |
| 4 | **Burgas Airport (BOJ)**, Burgas [BG] | 8.6 min | 78% | 7.6% | 3 h 36 min | 236 |
| 5 | **Kraków John Paul II International Airport (KRK)**, Kraków [PL] | 8 min | 79% | 3.2% | 3 h 04 min | 788 |
| 6 | **Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport (RZE)**, Rzeszów [PL] | 7 min | 88% | 5.5% | 3 h 06 min | 109 |
| 7 | **Varna Airport (VAR)**, Varna [BG] | 6.6 min | 79% | 4.8% | 1 h 49 min | 188 |
| 8 | **Chişinău International Airport (KIV)**, Chişinău [MD] | 4.5 min | 81% | 4.1% | 2 h 41 min | 391 |
| 9 | **Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN)**, Gdańsk [PL] | 2.6 min | 88% | 1.9% | 2 h 37 min | 484 |
| 10 | **Katowice International Airport (KTW)**, Katowice [PL] | 2.1 min | 90% | 2.3% | 2 h 34 min | 429 |
| 11 | **Modlin Airport (WMI)**, Warsaw [PL] | 1.9 min | 86% | 3.1% | 2 h 02 min | 227 |

### One hub late, the rest close together

Nine of the 11 airports averaged under 9 min, so the ranking is really one outlier and a tight field behind it. Traffic volume does not explain the order. Kraków John Paul II International Airport handled 788 departures at 8 min, and Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport 484 at 2.6 min, both far below Chopin. The share of heavily delayed flights follows yet another order: among [Burgas Airport departures](https://nakordoni.eu/sr/flights/burgas), 7.6% left more than 60 minutes late, the highest proportion in the table, on an average of just 8.6 min. Chopin's 3.2% over an hour is less than half that, so its position rests on a large volume of moderate delays rather than a long tail. For a Warsaw departure the two fields diverge sharply: Chopin averaged 15.5 min with 64% on time, while [the WMI airport at Modlin](https://nakordoni.eu/sr/flights/warsaw-modlin) averaged 1.9 min with 86%. Passengers who reach Rzeszów, Kraków or Warsaw by road from Ukraine face a second variable before check-in, and the [border queues](https://nakordoni.eu/sr/stat) are the part of that journey they can plan around.

## The five worst departures of the week

| # | Flight | Airline | From | To | Date | Delay |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | **SN85XP** | Unknown Owner | Copernicus Wrocław Airport (WRO) | — | Wed 02.09 | **4 h 18 min** |
| 2 | **ISR730** | Israir | Burgas Airport (BOJ) | Tel Aviv (TLV) | Sun 06.09 | **3 h 36 min** |
| 3 | **RYR917** | Ryanair | Copernicus Wrocław Airport (WRO) | East Midlands, England (EMA) | Sat 05.09 | **3 h 22 min** |
| 4 | **SPWOW** | Unknown Owner (Poland) | Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport (RZE) | — | Thu 03.09 | **3 h 06 min** |
| 5 | **LDA946** | Lauda Europe | Kraków John Paul II International Airport (KRK) | — | Thu 03.09 | **3 h 04 min** |

Two of the five departed from Copernicus Wrocław Airport, including the longest delay of the week, and two fell on Thursday 03.09. Beyond that the list has little in common: four different airports, five different flights and no repeated carrier. Our records hold how late each aircraft pushed back and carry nothing about the reason.

## Airlines: who left on time and who did not

| Airline | On time | Average delay | Departures measured |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| LOT Polish Airlines | 64% | 14.9 min | 1114 |
| Smartwings Poland | 65% | 16.5 min | 60 |
| Bulgaria Air | 69% | 12 min | 104 |
| Turkish Airlines | 72% | 9.4 min | 82 |
| Ryanair | 75% | 11.3 min | 385 |
| Lufthansa | 75% | 9.3 min | 138 |
| Wizz Air Malta | 83% | 5.2 min | 107 |
| KLM | 83% | 7.3 min | 75 |
| Wizz Air | 84% | 6.1 min | 903 |
| Buzz | 84% | 4.6 min | 844 |
| Austrian Airlines | 87% | 1.3 min | 61 |
| FlyOne | 90% | -4.2 min | 90 |
| Enter Air | 96% | -1.6 min | 129 |

The 13 carriers with a publishable sample span 32 percentage points, from LOT Polish Airlines at 64% to Enter Air at 96%. Smartwings Poland carried the highest average of the group at 16.5 min, on 60 measured departures. Enter Air and FlyOne finished with averages below zero, having pushed back ahead of schedule often enough to pull the mean under the timetable. Business model does not sort the table: Wizz Air and Buzz both reached 84% and Ryanair 75%, while Austrian Airlines led the network carriers at 87% and Bulgaria Air recorded 69%. These percentages describe punctuality on departures from the 11 airports we monitor, and they say nothing about a carrier's whole network. Per-carrier figures are updated on the [airline punctuality](https://nakordoni.eu/sr/flights/airlines) page.

A carrier needs at least 53 measured departures in the window, 1% of the week's total, before we publish a percentage for it. Smaller operators appear in our records, and a sample of a dozen flights supports no reliable statistic. Our tracking registers how late a flight left, never why.

## How the week trended

Thursday 03.09 was the weakest day, averaging 13.8 min with 69% of departures on time. Punctuality recovered steadily afterwards. The daily average fell to 9 min on Friday, 8.6 min on Saturday, 8.5 min on Sunday, 8.1 min on Monday and 7.2 min on Tuesday 08.09, which also posted the best on-time share at 81%. Wednesday 02.09 and Tuesday 08.09 are partial days, because the window rolls over 7 x 24 hours instead of following the calendar.

## What to do with these numbers

- Check the board for your own flight before leaving home. The weekly window is closed, while the boards keep moving; for flight delays today, the [live departures section](https://nakordoni.eu/sr/flights) holds the current picture.
- Leave slack on a short connection when departing from an airport near the top of the table. A departure delay does not automatically cost you the next flight, since some of it can be recovered in the air, but a tight transfer is the real exposure.
- When two airports serve the same city, the punctuality gap is a genuine tiebreaker at booking time.
- If the trip starts with a land border crossing, check the queue before setting off and add that wait time to your airport plan.
