The Latvian State Border Guard has confirmed that the electronic queue at the **Paternieki** border crossing point is working again. The notice was published on 4 August 2026 at 18:34, ending a temporary interruption in queue management.

##### What changes for drivers:

Movement towards the border barrier is once again controlled by invitation only. Drivers should not approach the barrier on their own initiative and must wait until their number is called.

###### 🇱🇻 Latvia (Paternieki):

- Queue operations resumed on 4 August 2026 at 18:34
- Invitations to the barrier are shown on the information board and through the notification system
- Registrations made before the interruption remain valid — there is no need to register again
- Residual delays are likely during the first 24 hours as the backlog clears

##### Practical advice:

- Check the status of your number regularly; a missed invitation can cost you your place
- Prepare documents in advance: passports, vehicle registration, insurance
- Allow extra time — traffic that built up during the outage does not disperse instantly
- Where possible, shift your crossing away from evening peak hours

Paternieki is one of the main crossings on the Latvia-Belarus direction, so even a short pause in queue management quickly creates a backlog of vehicles. Current waiting times for other crossings are published on the [Latvian border overview page](https://nakordoni.eu/en/country/latvia).

Border officers thanked travellers for their patience and understanding while the issue was being resolved.
