On this date, a truck driving ban ([Fahrverbot / zakaz ruchu](https://nakordoni.eu/en/for_truck_drivers/traffic_bans)) applies in Croatia for goods vehicles (HGV/TIR) above the national weight threshold. Passenger cars, coaches, and motorcycles are exempt. Empty containers returning to base may also be exempt—check local rules below. This holiday ban impacts transit routes through Croatia, particularly for drivers using the Adriatic corridor or connecting Southeast Europe to Central Europe. With Austria, Germany, and Switzerland enforcing their own Sunday/holiday bans, rerouting or early departure is critical to avoid penalties and delays. ## Ban Windows on 2026-08-05 | Country | Local name | Time | Applies to | Roads | Penalty | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Croatia | Dan pobjede i domovinske zahvalnosti i Dan hrvatskih branitelja | **14:00–23:00** | >7.5 t or trailers >14 m | Selected main roads & motorways | HRK 3,000–15,000 | ## Pre-holiday day (Tuesday 2026-08-04) Croatia enforces a pre-holiday truck driving ban on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, from **15:00 to 23:00** for vehicles >7.5 t or trailers >14 m. No additional restrictions apply in neighboring countries beyond their regular weekly patterns. ## Country-by-country rules & penalties ### Croatia **Weight threshold:** >7.5 t (or trailers >14 m). **Roads:** Selected main roads and motorways. **Recurring pattern:** Sundays and holidays 14:00–23:00; pre-holiday days 15:00–23:00. Good Friday and Holy Saturday also restricted 15:00–23:00. **Exemptions:** Perishable goods, live animals, fuel, and humanitarian shipments. **Penalties:** HRK 3,000–15,000. ## Plan Your Route To comply with the truck driving ban on 5 August 2026, follow these steps: 1. **Depart before 14:00 on 5 August:** Ensure your vehicle exits restricted roads by the ban start time. Use [EU Tachograph Calculator](https://nakordoni.eu/en/tools/tacho-calculator) to verify driving time and rest periods. 2. **Overnight parking:** Secure rest areas along TEN-T corridors offer safe overnight parking. Check [Truck Parkings Map](https://nakordoni.eu/en/for_truck_drivers/parkings) for locations with capacity on 4–5 August. 3. **Reroute via exempt countries:** If transiting Croatia, consider routes through Slovenia or Hungary, where no holiday ban applies on 5 August. Note that Hungary enforces a Sunday/holiday ban from 06:00–22:00 for vehicles >7.5 t, but this does not overlap with Croatia’s window. 4. **Border buffer time:** Allow extra time for potential queues at border crossings like Bregana (HR/SI) or Goričan (HR/HU).
