# Truck Driving Bans in Europe — Week 27, 2026-06-29 to 2026-07-05

## Week 27 Overview: Two Heavy Ban Days Across 15 Countries

During Week 27 (**29 June to 5 July 2026**), **15 countries** enforce truck driving restrictions. However, the week splits sharply into two profiles. From Monday to Friday, the only restrictions are the routine nightly bans in [Austria](https://nakordoni.eu/en/country/austria), Switzerland and Liechtenstein (typically 22:00–05:00). These are standard every-night windows and should not be treated as exceptional. The two genuinely heavy days are **Saturday 4 July** and **Sunday 5 July**, when full-day and holiday-specific bans apply across most of Central and Western Europe. Sunday 5 July is also [Saints Cyril and Methodius Day](https://nakordoni.eu/en/holidays) in several countries, which extends restrictions further.

Every restriction below applies only to **goods vehicles (HGV/TIR)**. Passenger cars, coaches and, in many countries, empty containers and vehicles returning empty to base are exempt. For drivers planning cross-border routes, the practical impact is that a truck driving ban (Fahrverbot) in one country can force a stop of several hours, so departure timing must be planned around these windows. The real hotspot this week is the **Alpine transit corridor** — the A12 Inntal and A13 Brenner routes through Austria — where additional Saturday daytime bans apply on top of the night ban. Note also that weight thresholds differ: [Poland](https://nakordoni.eu/en/country/poland) and Bulgaria only ban vehicles **over 12 tonnes**, so lighter trucks are not restricted there, while most other countries use the **over 7.5 tonnes** threshold.

### Monday 29 June to Thursday 2 July

On these four weekdays only routine nightly bans apply. There are no daytime or holiday restrictions.

These are standard night bans only. The Swiss and Liechtenstein **over 3.5t** threshold is stricter than the Alpine norm, so even light commercial vehicles are affected overnight.

The first daytime restriction of the week is the Czech summer Friday ban (17:00–21:00, July–August). Drivers heading toward Prague or the D1 should clear the corridor before 17:00.

The most critical point on Saturday is the **Alpine corridor**: the A12 Inntal and A13 Brenner carry an additional **07:00–15:00** ban toward Italy and Germany, on top of the standard Saturday afternoon and night windows. Sunday is the heaviest day of the week. **Switzerland and Liechtenstein** apply a full 24-hour ban — one of the strictest regimes in Europe, with almost no cargo exemptions. Most other countries run their standard Sunday window until 22:00. Plan to be parked before these windows open.

Use these practical steps to avoid delays this week. First, check the exact ban window for each country on your route before departure, since opening times shift on Saturday 4 July and Sunday 5 July.
