This was announced by the regional Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service. The goal is to protect asphalt concrete pavement from damage during hot weather, when the heated road easily deforms under the weight of trucks. The restrictions apply to trucks with an actual weight of over **24 tons** and an axle load of over **7 tons**. The ban is only active when the air temperature is above **+28°C** and only during the daytime — from **10:00 to 22:00**. At night and in the morning, when the pavement cools down, movement is allowed without restrictions. This is a seasonal measure introduced every summer in many regions, so it is not new for [truck drivers](https://nakordoni.eu/en/for_truck_drivers). ## Which roads are affected The restrictions apply to state roads of I and II operational maintenance levels and key logistical routes in the region: - **M-06** Kyiv – Chop (further to Budapest via Lviv, Mukachevo and Uzhhorod); - **M-07** Kyiv – Kovel – Yahodyn (further to Lublin); - **M-19** Domanove – Kovel – Chernivtsi – Terebleche (further to Bucharest); - northern, southern, and western approaches to Rivne; - regional and territorial roads **H-02, H-22** (Ustyluh – Lutsk – Rivne), **H-25, P-77** and a number of T-series roads (T-18-01, T-18-08, T-18-09). ## Who is not affected by the restrictions The ban does not apply to the transportation of dangerous and perishable goods, live animals and poultry, dual-use goods and property for defense needs, military transportation, as well as vehicles involved in preventing or eliminating the consequences of emergencies. ## Where to wait out the heat For the duration of the restrictions, **16 designated parking areas** for heavy vehicles have been established — primarily along the M-06 Kyiv – Chop and M-07 Kyiv – Kovel – Yahodyn routes. These are equipped rest areas, motels, campsites, gas stations, and cafes with truck parking. Additionally, drivers can use roadside service facilities. ## How this affects border crossings The listed routes are the main freight arteries to the western border crossing points. Trucks travel along route **M-07** to [Yahodyn](https://nakordoni.eu/en/id/id_64) (exit to Poland via Dorohusk), along route **H-22** to [Ustyluh](https://nakordoni.eu/en/id/id_67), and **M-06** leads to Zakarpattia — to [Chop](https://nakordoni.eu/en/id/id_266) (border with Hungary) and Uzhhorod (border with Slovakia). Therefore, on hot days, plan your travel through Rivne region for the morning or night to avoid losing 12 hours in the daytime "window" of the ban before even reaching the border.
