# Latvia Bans Irregular Bus Services at Russian and Belarusian Border Crossings

Latvia has implemented a comprehensive ban on irregular international bus passenger transport across its borders with Belarus and the Russian Federation. The restriction came into force on November 1, 2025, and will remain in effect until October 31, 2026.

##### Affected Border Crossing Points:

The ban applies to three specific border checkpoints that previously handled irregular bus services to Belarus and Russia.

###### 🇱🇻 Latvia — Closed Crossings:

- **Paternieki** — Latvian-Belarusian border
- **Grebneva** — Latvian-Belarusian border
- **Terehova** — Latvian-Russian border

##### Who Is Affected:

The restriction is universal and applies to all transport operators regardless of where the company or vehicle is registered. This means buses from any country cannot operate irregular passenger services through these crossing points.

##### What Travelers Should Know:

The ban specifically targets irregular bus services only. Scheduled regular bus routes and private vehicles continue to operate normally at these checkpoints. Travelers who had planned to use irregular bus services should explore alternative transportation options.

This decision was enacted through Latvian Cabinet Order No. 643, dated October 7, 2025, as part of enhanced control measures at the country's eastern borders.
